My Bible/Theology class makes me want to learn Greek. You may think I live in Smith/Traber dorm, but I really reside in Libraries.  (Wheaton College Library and the Wheaton Public Library) I almost took Geology next semester!  woah buddy. Saw the Chicago Symphony last night.  They shouldn't play Baroque and Classical.  Stick to 20th century.  I'm addicted to reading.  Right now it's the Brother's Karamazov.  Last week it was Catcher in the Rye and before that Slaughterhouse 5.  Next up will probably be Jude the Obscure or Brave New World.  hmmm.... On Monday I have to know Asia's Geography like none other.  Better get on that. Only one more day of school until Thanksgiving break!!  woot woot!

What a day, what a day

Actually it's what year, what year. But it's not over...yet. I still have 17 days. 17 days of __________. insert pleasant words here.

Ok, so here's the skibby dibby. It hit me today that I can't speak really really good german, nor can I speak really really good english. I'm languageless. great. Have patience with me when I get home. I write languages and understand them soo much better than I can speak them. My speaking skills are _____. insert word here that is not good, but also not bad, so a word like average works. or good enough to pass the "you-can-speak level" could be inserted in that blank too.

We had a girl visit our school today. She just got back two weeks ago from a year in Kentucky, meaning she was in the US doing what I'm doing here. It was so interesting to talk to her. Like all the American stuff she talked about, stuff like how we say "What's up?" or, "WTF?", "or F'%" this game!" and other little American sayings that I totally forgot about. I had to laugh when I heard her say them. They seemed so 4th grade, but I used to say them, well, some of them, not all of those mentioned above. And probably will start saying them again when I get back.

There are a lot of things I've forgotten about, things that just belong to the "average" american lifestyle of a kid my age. Poptarts. Driving a car. Cellphone. Partying ohne Alkohol.

My mom asked me if I wanted a cake at my welcome home party. I realized what we call cake and my fist reaction was "ewwww...gross! No cake. Me no likey!!" That miost white or brown spongy stuff with a ton of gross frosting. Wow. I don't like cake anymore. American cake that is. See, it's the little things in a culture that can get to you. I don't mean to offend anyone here, but why is our cake that way? And why do we leave the water on the whole time we're in the shower? And why do we turn on lights during the day when the windows usually give us as much light as we need? And why do we drive everywhere? And why don't we sort our trash fifteen different ways? Why isn't sorting trash a law yet? And why do we think that we're the only country that exists? okay, now I'm just being harsh.

My welcome home Party. Hope you all who read this come. I need a nice welcome home. That's funny. I don't really feel like it's home. But home is where your heart is, and I can tell you that is so true. Where is my heart right now? Good question. Actually, neither here nor there. oh no! Not only am I languageless, but now I'm homeless too!! What a day, what a day.

So come to my house on the 10th of July. If you can't, then come to my house anyother time. Call first to make sure I'm home. I want to see your smiling faces there. Or just your faces for that matter. You don't have to smile if you don't want to I guess. I will be though. Because I get to see the people who mean so much to me, the people I do love.

Ich bin ja in der Schweiz

Joghurt, cheese and chocolate. The Alps. Those cows with their bells around their necks.  Yodeling and Alphorns.  Schwingfest and Rivella. The sing song of their spoken language.  I love Switzerland.

I'm in love with the song by Brandi Carlile called "The Story."

I'm also enjoying the beautiful sunshine and striving to make the best of my time here.

Dublin was a blast. One expensive city though. But that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time. Strange accents, Trinity College, really noisy spanich roommates, weird french roommate with chinese accent, Guinness, the Spire, the beach, the amazing Ferry to Wales, the Chippy, rock hunting, seeing an old friend again, and spending time with wonderful friends in Ireland. That's my trip in a nutshell.

My friend asked me, if I could be anything at all, what wouold I want to be? He meant it in a Job/Occupation kind of way, not like, I would be President of Sweden or a flying mushroom. And that question seems somewhat hard to answer. Anything at all? I have to think hard about that one.

What would you be?

Wo ist die Zeit ja geblieben?

Visited some friends last weekend and I have concluded that riding the deutschebahn into the sunset, listening to music and looking out the window of the ICE has to be one of the best feelings in the world.  Such a feeling of contentment.

School continues to happen, despite my best efforts.  It's not so bad really.  There are good days here and there.  I'm just jealous of all you guys who are done with school or will be soon.

I leave for Dublin on Thursday.  Have no idea what we are doing while we're there, but it's garanteed to be a great time anyway.  Hope to see some Leprechauns.

in related news I only dropped my bike twice.
